Investigations
- Bedside → examinations: pregnant abdomen, speculum, bimanual. Basic observations. Urine: dip, pregnancy test.
- Bloods → FBC, G&S, Cross-Match, Coagulation Screen. U&Es, LFTs, OGTT.
- Imaging → Assess mother: TVUSS. Assess foetus: foetal ultrasound scan (assess growth and amniotic fluid volume), foetal doppler (assessing blood flow to baby), CTG.
Counselling
- Maternal → manage acute medical issue. Develop ongoing plan (consultant led?).
- Foetal → ongoing monitoring for the remainder of the pregnancy.
- Labour → gestation at delivery, mode of delivery, where delivery will take place (labour ward), interventions (continuous CTG monitoring).
