Overview
- A benign breast tumour with fibrous and glandular tissue
- Most common in women between 15-35 yrs old (most common breast tumour in women <35 yrs old)
- Unknown aetiology, but it is believed there is a hormonal relationship → increased oestrogen (during pregnancy or before menstruation), may stimulate growth
- No increase in risk of malignancy (unlike cyst)
Making Diagnosis
Clinical Features:
- Well defined, mobile mass
- Smooth
- Most commonly solitary
- Non-tender
- Rubbery consistency

No cervical lymphadenopathy or signs of malignancy.
Investigations:
- Ultrasound (<35 yrs old) → well defined mass
